We discovered Leros purely by chance, after missing our ferry from Patmos, we decided to take a gamble on the next available boat that evening and seeing where it would take us. When we arrived into Lakki harbour late at night, we got our first glimpse of the Rationalist theatre and the wide Italian boulevards.. and were more than a little intrigued.
OVER TEN YEARS LATER, WHEN WE FIRST SPOKE ABOUT MOVING TO A GREEK ISLAND.. LEROS WAS THE FIRST PLACE ON OUR LIST.
With backgrounds in digital marketing & fashion print design, we both love the Greek islands and particularly Leros. After many years of living and working in London, we decided to come here and make it our home.
We hope you enjoy it here as much as we do. Al & Kitty x
HERE'S SOME OF OUR TOP TIPS...
HAVE SUPPER AT EL GRECO
You couldn't find a more romantic place for dinner than at El Greco where they bring the tables right down to the water's edge. Try their lamb in the oven, or sample delicious mezedes - such as fried zucchini with ouzo and yoghurt. Great for vegetarians.
VISIT DEPOSITO DE GUERRA
Take a tour of Ioannis Parapionaris's collection of war memorabilia and learn about the Battle of Leros.
TAKE A SAILING TRIP TO THE WHITE ISLANDS
Sail to the magnificent White Islands and swim in the turquoise waters, followed by a lazy lunch at a sun-kissed taverna on the nearby islands of Arki, Lipsi, or Marathi. Both of these beautiful boats sail daily from Agia Marina.
HAVE BAKLAVA AT PARADOSIAKO
Savour delicious coffee and baklava at Cafe Paradosiako in the picturesque harbour of Agia Marina - and see the islanders gather in their finery after church.
CLIMB TO THE KASTRO
Climb to the Byzantine castle museum - and then get your breath back sipping caipirinhas at The View Bar with a fantastic panorama of Panteli below.
